I have a small but well equipped home studio using Sonar 11 and plugins. I have real instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keys) and record in a natural and "old school" way looking for authentic sounds with a magical combination of good songwriting and performing. I am primarily (but not exclusively) interested in dealing with singer/songwriter type artists to create high quality demos for a reasonable cost. I don't do very many because I am busy performing with the March Hare Band, and because it is my "home" studio, I am particular about the projects I take on and do not do full band recordings. I only have a maximum of two people at a time.

I have been writing and recording songs for over 30 years and have many services to offer. If your songs are not finished and need to be organized and produced, I can guide you and help you get your songs into presentable form. I also offer insights into chord and melody structure as well as lyrics.

 

 

 

 

If you are a songwriter who needs a good demo to present your songs for publishing, management, other writers or songwriting contests, this is a quick and cost effective way to take a good song and get a very presentable demo in one day (about 6 hours). This includes whatever is needed for vocals and instruments. The writer typically sings and/plays an instrument, but I sing and play guitar very well and also play bass, drums and simple keys (strings, chords, or simple lines). So you get all the recording, equipment, and instruments played for one price in one day!

 

I request a rough chart and recording of the song. For approximate running times, we begin with a guitar track to a simple drum pattern, then vocals (and harmonies) are added (1.5 hours). The guitars are finished (1 hour) then drums are added (1 hour). Then bass is added along with whatever keys and other sounds would enhance the song (1 hour). Then any percussion that is required can be added (.5 hour) followed by tweaking any parts and mixing (1 hour). Times are difficult to estimate accurately but I keep the process on track. Because it's not an "album" cut we can't spend hours on picky parts, but it is a high quality demo to showcase your songwriting.
